Our Program Areas

RiseHer Initiative implements a range of programs designed to address the interconnected challenges facing communities in South Sudan. Our programs focus on strengthening resilience, improving livelihoods, and expanding opportunities for vulnerable populations.

Gender Equality and Gender Mainstreaming

RiseHer Initiative integrates gender equality across all its programs to ensure women and men benefit equally from development opportunities.

Through gender mainstreaming, RI promotes equal participation, leadership opportunities, and access to resources for women and girls while working with communities to challenge barriers that limit their full potential.

Key interventions include:

  • Gender awareness and community sensitization programs
  • Leadership and mentorship opportunities for women and girls
  • Support for girls’ education and participation in STEM
  • Gender-responsive program design and monitoring

These efforts help create more inclusive and equitable communities.

Inclusive Education Programs

Education is a powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty and inequality. Unfortunately, many children in South Sudan do not have access to safe and quality education.

RiseHer Initiative works to expand educational opportunities through:

  • Scholarships for vulnerable students
  • School supplies distribution
  • Mentorship and leadership programs
  • STEM clubs for girls and boys
  • Community awareness campaigns

These programs aim to increase school enrollment, improve learning outcomes, and empower young people to pursue leadership roles in their communities.

Health and Nutrition Programs

Malnutrition remains one of the most pressing challenges affecting children and mothers in South Sudan.

RiseHer Initiative addresses this through community-based health and nutrition programs including:

  • School feeding initiatives
  • Growth monitoring for children
  • Nutrition screening
  • Mobile health clinics
  • Maternal health support

Special emphasis is placed on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, which are critical for healthy development.

Livelihood and Economic Empowerment

Youth unemployment and poverty remain major drivers of instability in many communities.

RiseHer Initiative supports communities by providing:

  • Vocational skills training
  • Agribusiness development programs
  • Urban farming initiatives
  • Youth entrepreneurship training
  • Savings and financial literacy programs

These initiatives help individuals develop sustainable income-generating skills and strengthen household resilience.

Digital Innovation and Data Systems

Accurate and reliable data is essential for effective humanitarian and development response.

RiseHer Initiative promotes the use of digital solutions including:

  • Biometric beneficiary registration
  • Mobile data collection tools
  • Digital monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Community data dashboards

These technologies improve transparency, strengthen program accountability, and ensure that services reach the intended beneficiaries.

Emergency Response Programs

South Sudan frequently experiences humanitarian emergencies caused by conflict, flooding, and displacement.

RiseHer Initiative provides rapid humanitarian support through:

  • Emergency food distribution
  • Temporary learning spaces for displaced children
  • Mobile health services
  • Emergency nutrition kits

These interventions ensure vulnerable communities receive timely and life-saving assistance during crises.
